Notable NBA All-Star Game MVPs

Chris Paul

Paul tallied 20 points and 15 assists in the West's 143-138 victory to become the first Los Angeles Clipper to ever win All-Star Game MVP honors.

Kevin Durant

The Oklahoma City Thunder forward and two-time league scoring champion added yet another accolade to his already long resume: All-Star MVP. The 23-year-old tied a game-high of 36 points and added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals to help the West hold on for a 152-149 win over the East in Orlando.

Kobe Bryant

Playing in front of his home crowd, Kobe Bryant won his fourth All-Star MVP after pouring in a game-high 37 points along with 14 rebounds in the West's 148-143 victory in Los Angeles. With the award, Bryant tied Bob Pettit for the most All-Star Game MVP awards all-time.

Dwyane Wade

In his sixth career All-Star appearance, the Miami Heat guard recorded a game-high 28 points on 75 percent shooting, 11 assists, five steals and six rebounds in the East's 141-139 win in Dallas.

Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant

Former Laker teammates Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal shared the MVP honors after the West's 146-119 victory in Phoenix. Bryant led all scorers with 27 points and four steals, while O'Neal, who made his All-Star return a grand JabbaWockeeZ entrance, added 17 points and five rebounds.

LeBron James

After blowing a 16-point lead in the fourth, the Eastern Conference managed to pull out a 134-128 win, thanks primarily to the sharphooting of Ray Allen and the near-triple-double (27 points, nine assists, eight rebounds) from LeBron James. The then-Cavs' forward received the second All-Star Game MVP award of his career, even though Allen led all scorers with 28 points

Kevin Garnett

Though Michael Jordan, in his last All-Star appearance, was hitting turnaround jumper after turnaround jumper, it was Minnesota's Kevin Garnett who took over the show to lead the West to a 155-145 victory in double overtime. Garnett poured in 37 points, nine rebounds and five steals en route to earning the game's MVP honors.

Allen Iverson

In a stunning comeback from a 21-point deficit, the East out-dueled the West 111-110, with point guard Allen Iverson leading the way. Iverson scored 15 of his 25 points in the final nine minutes, while also recording five assists and five steals, to earn the game's MVP.

Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal

The starting frontcourt for the Western Conference All-Stars combined for 46 points and 23 rebounds as the West downed the East 137-126 in Oakland, Calif. O'Neal (22 points, nine rebounds three blocks) and Duncan (24 points, 14 rebounds and four assists) shared the MVP award for the first time since John Stockton and Karl Malone in 1993.

Glen Rice

Glen Rice scored a NBA All-Star record 20 points in the third quarter, as the East overcame a 22-point first-half deficit to beat the West 132-120 in Cleveland.

Michael Jordan

While carrying the East to a 129-118 win with a third-quarter scoring spree, Michael Jordan picked up his second All-Star MVP award with 20 points, four rebounds and one assist in just 22 minutes -- the fewest of any East starter.

Mitch Richmond

Appearing in only his third All-Star game, Mitch Richmond went on a tear, scoring a game-high 23 points in 22 minutes as the West cruised to an easy 139-112 victory over the East in Phoenix.

Scottie Pippen

In the absence of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen cemented his place among the game's elite, exploding for 29 points, 11 rebounds and four steals as the East defeated the West 127-118 in Minneapolis. Jordan temporarily retired from the NBA prior to the 1993-94 NBA season.

John Stockton, Karl Malone

Karl Malone and John Stockton picked-and-rolled their way to All-Star MVP honors as the East topped the West 135-132 in overtime in Salt Lake City. Playing in front of their home crowd, Malone (28 points and 10 rebounds) and Stockton (nine points and 15 assists) became the first teammates in NBA history to share the All-Star MVP award.

Charles Barkley

Appearing in his fifth All-Star Game, Philadelphia 76ers forward Charles Barkley scored 17 points and grabbed 22 boards to the East to a 116-114 win at Charlotte coliseum. His rebound total were the most in an All-Star Game since Wilt Chamberlain's 22 in 1967.

Magic Johnson

As if he didn't have enough major awards in his trophy case, Magic Johnson won the All-Star MVP after notching 22 points, six rebounds and four assists -- for the losing team. The West lost, 130-113, making Magic only the third player in history to win MVP honors will playing for the losing team.

Karl Malone

Utah's Karl Malone scored 28 points and recorded nine rebounds and three assists while leading the West to a 143-134 win in Houston.

Tom Chambers

A late addition to the All-Star Game, Tom Chambers represented the hometown Sonics by scoring 34 points during the West's 154-149 overtime victory over the East in Seattle. Chambers was playing in place of Ralph Sampson, who had sustained a knee injury in the week prior to the All-Star Game.

Isiah Thomas

Isiah Thomas somehow overshadowed Magic Johnson (who notched a NBA All-Star record 22 assists) as the East rallied to beat the West 154-145 in Denver. Thomas handed out 15 assists and scored all 21 of his points in the second half.

Julius Erving

Julius Erving scored a game-high 25 points as the East defeated the West 132-123 for their fourth All-Star victory in a row.

Larry Bird

Larry Bird orchestrated a fourth-quarter drive, scoring 12 of his team's last 15 points, to lead the East to a 120-118 victory over the West in East Rutherford, N.J.

Walt Frazier

Walt Frazier scored a game-high 30 points as the East topped the West 108-102 in Phoenix.

Bob Lanier

Bob Lanier edged teammate Spencer Haywood for MVP honors as the West downed the East 134-123 in Seattle. Haywood scored 23 points, but couldn't top Lanier, who clinched the award when he scored 12 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter.

Jerry West

Jerry West electrified his hometown fans with a last-second jumper that gave the West a 112-110 victory over the East in Los Angeles. West finished with 13 points, five assists and six rebounds.

Jerry Lucas

Jerry Lucas held off stiff competition to win MVP honors as the East topped the West 124-123 in St. Louis, MO. Lucas scored 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, to win the award over Oscar Robertson (28 points, eight assists and six rebounds) and Wilt Chamberlain (20 points and 16 rebounds).

Bill Russell

In their first All-Star Game against one another, Bill Russell bested Wilt Chamberlain as the East beat the West 115-108 in Los Angeles. Russell outscored Chamberlain, 19-17, and outrebounded him, 24-19.

Oscar Robertson

Only a rookie, Oscar Robertson gave everyone a glimpse of his potential, leading the West to a 153-131 rout of the East in Syracuse, N.Y. Robertson recorded 23 points, nine rebounds and 14 assists.

Wilt Chamberlain

In front of his hometown crowd, Wilt Chamberlain, then only a rookie, led the East to a 125-115 victory in Philadelphia. Chamberlain scored 23 points and pulled down 25 rebounds.

Bob Pettit

Led by Bob Pettit, the West cruised to a 108-94 victory over the East in Rochester, N.Y. Pettit scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 24 rebounds to win the first of four career NBA All-Star MVPs.

Bob Cousy

Bob Cousy scored 10 of his 20 points in overtime, led the East to a 98-93 victory and wrestled the All-Star MVP award away from Jim Pollard. Pollard, the game's high scorer, was named MVP before the game went to overtime. But after Cousy's overtime performance, they held a re-vote, and Cousy became the MVP.
