The Thunder have agreed to trade guard Eric Maynor to the Trail Blazers for the draft rights to Georgios Printezis, according to The Oklahoman and Yahoo! Sports. Oklahoma City will receive a trade exception in the move.
Maynor, 25, is averaging 2.8 points and 2 assists in 10.6 minutes per game this season after missing most of the 2011-12 season with a serious knee injury. He is shooting 31.3 percent from the field. The 2009 first-round pick is in the fourth and final year of his rookie contract. He lost the backup point guard job to second-year player Reggie Jackson this season. The deal enables Oklahoma City to shed his $2.3 million salary.
The Blazers, in need of depth behind Rookie of the Year candidate Damian Lillard, will likely give Maynor a look as a possible longer-term solution at backup point guard. To make room for Maynor, the Blazers, who are at the 15-man roster limit, will waive guard Ronnie Price, according to CSNNW.com. Price, 29, who was signed last summer, is averaging 2.7 points and 1.9 assists in 13.1 minutes.
