The Suns have agreed to trade guard Sebastian Telfair to the Raptors in for center Hamed Haddadi and a protected second-round pick, according to ESPN.com and USA Today Sports.

Telfair, 27, signed a one-year deal with the Suns last summer. He's averaged six points and 2.5 assists off the bench for a rebuilding Phoenix team.

This trade opens up minutes for 2012 first-round pick Kendall Marshall behind starter Goran Dragic. Telfair will back up starter Kyle Lowry in Toronto, adding depth at the position after the Raptors parted with Jose Calderon in their trade for Rudy Gay last month. The Raptors, currently No. 10 in the East, are hoping to make a push for the No. 8 seed after reshaping their roster. They are five games behind eighth-place Milwaukee.

Haddadi, 27, was acquired by the Raptors from the Grizzlies in the Gay trade. The Iranian center made just 13 appearances for the Grizzlies, averaging 1.2 points and 1.8 rebounds, and did not suit up for the Raptors. He is under contract through the 2013-14 season after signing a two-year, $2.7 million deal last summer.
