The Phoenix Suns are reportedly moving to a new logo next season

The disconnect between the Suns' current jersey style and their recently remodeled court suggested an inevitable change, but it seems the start of that shift in design will begin as soon as next season. According to a since-deleted tweet by an Arizona-based NBC radio affiliate, Phoenix will soon transition to a collection of slightly altered logos that incorporate far less purple and much more black. Here's a screenshot of the tweet, featuring the designs:

Nothing too drastic, and an improvement overall. The new logos more directly feature the ambigram that can be seen at center court of the U.S. Airways Center, and look a touch more modern. There's not yet been any official announcement of the change in design or color scheme, but Trey Kerby of The Basketball Jones found severalt-shirts with the new designs available for purchase already on the NBA Store, which is a pretty clear indication that these will soon be a part of the Suns' branding. Black has turned into one of the most common (and arguably overused) tropes in NBA uniform design, but any move away from Phoenix's regrettable uniform set will be for the better.
