The Magic selected Victor Oladipo with the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft on Thursday. Here's a look at Oladipo and how he fits with Orlando:
Bio: Indiana | Junior | Shooting Guard
Vitals: 6-4, 213 pounds
2012-13 Statistics: 13.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.2 steals, 59.9 percent shooting in 36 games.
Strengths: One of the most disruptive perimeter defenders in college basketball, Oladipo brings pride and intensity to every matchup. He's also a plus-rebounder for his size, grabbing 6.3 per game last season. On the other end of the floor, Oladipo is a strong finisher in the open court. As Andy Glockner noted, he made 64.4 percent of his two-point field goal attempts this past season, a strong mark for any player, let alone a guard.
Weaknesses: The biggest question mark with Oladipo is his jumper. He made 18-of-74 threes in his first two seasons before nailing a respectable 30-of-68 (44.1 percent) as a junior. Was it a breakthrough or a fluke? He'll need a reliable jumper to play the 2-spot in the NBA.
What Scouts Say: "Love his makeup. Great worker. On defense, he plays like Tony Allen. He took very limited attempts to get that high [three-point] percentage. My question is, Has he had his big jump already of improvement? The fact that he's a top-five pick is an indictment of this draft."
