The Celtics and Bulls both donned green, sleeved Adidas jerseys during their St. Patrick's Day games on Monday.
Any hope that the holiday-inspired uniforms might provide a little luck of the Irish proved fleeting, as Boston fell 94-89 to Dallas on the road and Chicago suffered a 97-85 home loss to Oklahoma City.
Boston unveiled its green, sleeved jerseys last week, noting in a promotional video that the uniforms were an homage to the original Celtics, who wore sleeves during their inaugural 1946-47 season.

The front of the jersey was solid green, with gold trim around the neck, and the word “Celtics” and the player’s number appear in large, gold block lettering across the chest. On the back, the player’s jersey number appears in gold while his last name and the team’s shamrock logo, which is centered near the neck, appear in white. The jerseys were paired with green shorts that have an angular gold design on the sides. The shamrock makes another appearance within the gold design.

Chicago's designs featured a solid green top with "Chicago" in white, block lettering and the player's number on the front, with a white v-neck design around the collar. On the back, the player's name and jersey number appeared in white underneath the team's red bull logo. Green shorts, which featured the bull logo inside a white diamond design, complemented the jerseys.

Boston and Chicago were natural picks to wear green, as both cities have large Irish-American populations and both play host to major St. Patrick's Day parades. Boston's event regularly draws more than 1 million attendees and the Chicago River has been dyed green to celebrate the holiday for more than 40 years.
