Report: Heat, Lakers among five teams interested in Kings PG Isaiah Thomas
Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas is drawing interest from the Heat, Mavericks, Lakers, Suns and Pistons, league sources tell Aaron Bruski of NBC Universal.
Though wildly inconsistent, the 5-foot-9 point guard has shown promise after only three years in the league. He had a breakout season last year, averaging an efficient 20.3 points on 45 percent shooting in 34 minutes to go along with 6.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 72 games for Sacramento, 54 of which he started on a team with Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins.
The Kings recently extended a qualifying offer to the 25-year-old to make him a restricted free agent. Among the five teams interested in him, the Pistons are said to have the most focus at the moment, with an an offer potentially coming somewhere around three years and $24 million, according to Bruski. Teams in playoff contention, such as the Heat, Mavericks and Suns, have potential offers hovering in the $6-7 million range. Last season, he made $854,000 with the Kings.
Free agency began on July 1.
