Report: Derrick Rose not involved in Bulls' pitch to Carmelo Anthony
Derrick Rose did not play a role in the Bulls' meeting with Carmelo Anthony in Chicago on Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN.com's Chris Broussard.
According to the report, Rose took a break from a workout to greet Anthony but was surprised to see him at the Bulls' facility. However, sources told ESPN that Rose would have obliged to a request from members of the front office to recruit Anthony. Big men Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson were reportedly involved in the Bulls' recruiting pitch to the star free agent forward.
"Derrick wasn't bothered that he wasn't a part of it," a source said. "He was just kind of shocked, like, 'Man, I didn't get the memo.'"
The Bulls are one of several teams -- including the Lakers and Rockets -- reportedly pursuing Anthony, who opted out of the final year of his contract with the Knicks to enter unrestricted free agency. Anthony has said that he doesn't plan to make a decision before the end of the weekend, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
Chicago is reportedly close to arranging the arrival of European forward Nikola Mirotic.
