The Cleveland Cavaliers are close to signing No. 1 overall draft pick Andrew Wiggins, and ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst reported the two sides could agree on a deal within the next week.

Wiggins' name has come up in a flurry of trade rumors involving Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love, but Windhorst reported the delay in signing him is not because of any potential trades. Instead, the Cavaliers are looking at how they could use approximately $1.4 million in remaining cap room before signing Wiggins — which could preclude them from using that cap space. One option, according to Windhorst, is using the remaining cap room to create long-term deals for recent second-round picks Joe Harris and Dwight Powell.

Late last week, ESPN.com's Chris Broussard reported the Cavaliers and Timberwolves were discussing a trade of Wiggins and former No. 1 draft pick Anthony Bennett for Love. Wiggins and Bennett are the Cavs' two No. 1 picks over the last two years. Cleveland has been reportedly pursuing a trade for Love, contingent upon LeBron James coming back to Cleveland. Shortly after James' announced his decision on SI.com, a report indicated Love was intrigued by the idea of joining James on the Cavaliers and would commit to the team long-term.

Once Wiggins signs with the Cavs, league rules prevent him from being traded for 30 days.
