Hawks forward Paul Millsap added to USA Men's National Team roster
Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap has been added to the 2014-16 USA Men’s National Team roster, Team USA announced.
Millsap replaces Chicago Bulls guard Jimmy Butler, who won’t participate due to a strained groin. Team USA starts its preparation for the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain on Monday.
The U.S. will play Finland on Aug. 30 in the first game of the tournament. The World Cup winner receives an automatic bid to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
“Paul has prior experience at the National Team level having participated in the 2009 National Team mini-camp and offers us a veteran inside player who possesses attributes that can be beneficial for us,” USA Basketball National Team Managing Director Jerry Colangelo said.
