Report: Drew Gooden plans to join Finland for basketball World Cup
Wizards forward Drew Gooden plans to play for Finland in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain, according to The Washington Post.
The mother of Gooden, a native of Oakland, Calif., is Finnish.
Gooden, 32, averaged 8.3 points and 5.2 rebounds in 22 games for the Wizards last season. The 12-year veteran has also had stints with the Cavaliers, Bucks, Magic, Grizzlies, Bulls, Mavericks, Clippers, Kings and Spurs.

Finland is part of Group C, which also includes Team USA, New Zealand, Turkey, Ukraine, Finland and the Dominican Republic. Finland will take on Team USA on Aug. 30 in both teams' first group game.
Finland is ranked No. 39 in the FIBA World Rankings. The team includes Cavaliers forward Erik Murphy.
