Report: Suns' Goran Dragic says Spain the favorite to win FIBA World Cup

Suns point guard Goran Dragic said that Spain is the favorite to win the FIBA World Cup this month, according to a tweet from USA Today Sports' Sam Amick on Tuesday. 

Dragic, whose native Slovenia was routed 119-76 by the U.S. on Tuesday, said "so far, Spain" is his choice to win it all at the global basketball tournament. Spain, who is hosting the games, could see a final against the U.S., the perennial favorites in part because of their gold medal won at the most recent Cup in 2010. 

The 28-year-old Dragic, named the 2014 Most Improved Player of the Year in the NBA, averaged 20.3 points, 5.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals last season for a Phoenix team that narrowly missed the playoffs. 

The FIBA World Cup final is Sept. 14, with the winner automatically qualifying for the summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 2016.
