Adidas unveils John Wall's first signature sneaker, the 'J Wall 1'
Adidas has unveiled its first signature sneaker for Wizards guard John Wall, dubbed the "J Wall 1."
Wall's shoe will release on Oct. 31 in two colorways: a Wizards-themed red/white/blue and a black/gray version. The sneakers include a number of player-specific design elements, including a logo that features Wall's interlocking initials on the tongue and on the side, Wall's last name spread across the soles, and a map design that includes references to the national's capital, including the Washington Monument.
Wall, 24, averaged a career-high 19.3 points, 8.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds last season, leading the Wizards to the Eastern Conference semifinals and earning his first All-Star Game selection. The 2010 No. 1 overall pick joins Bulls guard Derrick Rose and Rockets center Dwight Howard as Adidas Basketball signature athletes. Wall entered the league wearing Reeboks before shifting to Adidas in 2013.
“Coming off my best season in the NBA and now launching the J Wall 1 that has my own logo is an incredible feeling,” said Wall. “I feel really blessed to have my own signature line and I think my fans and basketball players are going to love playing in this shoe. It’s also a shoe with great colors and materials that you can dress up off the court which is really important to me.”
SI.com ranked Wall at No. 31 on our list of the "Top 100 Players of 2015" list.
The "J Wall 1" will retail for $115. The two initial colorways -- red/white/blue and black/gray -- are pictured below. Additional colorways will be released during the 2014-15 season.
