Knicks' Carmelo Anthony: 'I'm not shutting it down for the season yet'

Knicks star Carmelo Anthony said he isn't ending his season yet because of pain in his knee. In an "uninterrupted" video on Bleacher Report, Anthony discussed the injury less than a week after Knicks coach Derek Fisher acknowledged that at some point the 6-foot-8 forward could sit out the remainder of the season. Anthony has not played in three consecutive games because of knee soreness.

"I'm all right," Anthony said in the video. "I'm not shutting it down for the season yet -- just trying to take some time to get it right."

Over 30 games this season, Anthony is averaging 23.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists while posting a 21.2 Player Efficiency Rating, down more than three points from last season.

He has reportedly said that the knee has been bothering him since the second game of the season.

The Knicks have lost 12 consecutive games to fall to 5-32, the worst winning percentage in the NBA. On Monday, they traded J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of three-team trade that also involved the Oklahoma City Thunder.

For New York, the deal was viewed as a money-saving move that creates cap flexibility. The Knicks face the Wizards in Washington on Wednesday.
