With the clock ticking down under 15 seconds and the score tied at 111, Harden opened Houston's final possession by running some time off in preparation for a final shot. At the five-second mark, Harden drove left on P.J. Tucker and away from a Phoenix double team provided by Isaiah Thomas. Harden was able to loose Tucker off the dribble to set up a clean step-back jumper from just inside the three-point line. The NBA's scoring leader buried the walk-off shot over Thomas as time expired.

Harden finished with a game-high 33 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Five other Rockets players finished in double figures.

Eric Bledsoe led the Suns with a team-high 25 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Thomas added 22 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench.

Houston improved to 30-14. Phoenix dropped to 26-19.
