Report: Rajon Rondo (facial injury) won't play Monday vs. Timberwolves
Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo will not play in Monday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to a report from ESPN's Marc Stein.
Rondo left Saturday's game against the Orlando Magic after taking a knee to the face from teammate Richard Jefferson. Rondo lay on the court as blood appeared to fall from his nose (video of the incident is embedded below).
The Mavericks later announced Rondo was out for the rest of the game with a head injury. Rondo is set to undergo an extensive evaluation Sunday, the report said.
Dallas acquired Rondo in a December trade with the Boston Celtics. Over 21 games with the Mavericks, the 28-year-old has averaged 9.2 points and 6.5 assists while shooting 40.4 percent from the field.
After facing Minnesota on Monday, Dallas will play road games against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday and the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. The Mavericks currently sit in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 32-17 record.
