The second-year player has enjoyed a breakout season for the Timberwolves. After appearing 37 games as a rookie (no starts), Muhammad has played in 38 (13 starts) this season, boosting his scoring total from 3.9 points per game to 13.5 and his rebounds per game from 1.4 to 4.1.

Muhammad was Minnesota's first-round pick, 14th overall, out of UCLA in the 2013 NBA draft.

The Timberwolves are 12-42, last in the Western Conference. At the trade deadline on Thursday, they acquired guard Gary Neal in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets. Minnesota "has no plans" to buy out Neal's contract, and Muhammad's injury did not influence that decision, reports Wojnarowski.
