Video: Bucks' Khris Middleton hits insane buzzer beater to top Heat
Khris Middleton drained a buzzer-beating three-pointer on a scramble play to lift Milwaukee to an improbable 89-88 home victory over Miami on Tuesday.
What. A. Comeback.
With 17 seconds left in overtime, Dwyane Wade split a pair of free throws to give the Heat a three-point lead. Ersan Ilyasova cut into that lead by hitting a free throw of his own, giving the Heat possession with 11 seconds remaining. Unfortunately for Miami, Michael Beasley was quickly tied up by Jerryd Bayless, forcing a jump ball with 10.8 seconds remaining.
That's when things got crazy. The 6'3" Bayless managed to win the jump ball over the 6'9" Beasley, and Bayless wasted no time attacking the hoop once he received a return pass. His driving effort rimmed off, though, causing Zaza Pachulia to desperately keep the ball alive on the offensive glass. After tipping it once, Pachulia chased the ball into the corner, tipped it again and then jumped to save it from going out of bounds along the baseline. He tossed an off-balance pass back to the top of the arc, with less than two seconds on the clock, and somehow it found Middleton, who stepped into the catch perfectly.
All squared up and with a clean look, Middleton calmly drained his three-pointer over a late effort to contest from Wade. The shot swished through at the buzzer, sending the Bradley Center crowd into pandemonium. The Bucks players chased Middleton down the court and piled onto him.
Middleton finished with 13 points and four rebounds, stepping forward to be the hero on a night that saw him shoot just 5-for-17 from the field. Ilyasova led the Bucks with a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Wade led all scorers with 21 points, four assists and two rebounds. Goran Dragic added 16 points and six assists.
Milwaukee improved to 35-36 and snapped a six-game losing streak. Miami fell to 32-38.
