Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley will require at least four months of recovery after having wrist surgery on Tuesday, reports Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

Beverley underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist. Prior to the operation, there was "a fleeting hope" the third-year guard could return for the Western Conference Finals if the Rockets advanced that far, reports Wojnarowski. Instead, Beverley will miss the full duration of the NBA playoffs and be in a cast for 10 weeks.

Beverley, 26, suffered the injury in a March 23 win over the Indiana Pacers. He was initially diagnosed with a sprain before meeting with doctors in Houston.

This season, Beverley averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 56 games.

The Rockets, a Western Conference title contender, are 50-24 and in third place in the conference.
