Report: Monty Williams to become Thunder's top assistant coach
Former New Orleans Pelicans head coach Monty Williams has agreed to join the Oklahoma City Thunder staff as Billy Donovan's top assistant, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
The Pelicans fired Williams last month after New Orleans went 45–37 and grabbed the Western Conference's No. 8 seed for the playoffs.
Wojnarowski reports that Donovan and Thunder general manager Sam Presti targeted Williams and “sold him on a prominent role on the staff.”
Donovan was hired as Oklahoma City's head coach in May following the firing of Scott Brooks. The former Florida coach made the jump to the NBA after 19 seasons with the Gators.

According to Wojnarowski, Thunder assistants Mark Bryant and Darko Rajakovic will be kept on staff, and former Alabama coach Anthony Grant will likely become Donovan's No. 3 assistant coach.
The Thunder missed the playoffs this season after a year rife with injuries, including to 2013–14 league MVP Kevin Durant.
