Reports: Paul Pierce agrees to 3-year contract with Los Angeles Clippers
Veteran Paul Pierce has agreed to a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to multiple reports. TNT's David Aldridge was first to report the news, followed by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski and others.
The Clippers will sign Pierce using the mini mid-level exception, Aldridge reports. His salary begins at $3.3 million and the contract is worth a total of $10.5 million, including a third-year option, according to Aldridge.
Pierce, who will be 38 when next season begins, spent last season with the Washington Wizards and averaged 11.9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game, all career lows.
Pierce had long been rumored to be interested in playing for the Clippers because they are coached by his former coach Doc Rivers and Pierce is a native of Southern California.
