Report: DeAndre Jordan to announce intent to sign with Mavericks
Los Angeles Clippers' forward DeAndre Jordan will reportedly announce on Friday his intent to sign with the Dallas Mavericks, ending one of the NBA free agency period's most-watched courtships.
Yahoo! Sports Marc J. Spears first reported the news, and added that the announcement is expected to take place around 6 p.m. ET. Spears reported that Jordan informed Mavericks' coach Rick Carlisle and owner Mark Cuban just after 4 p.m. ET that he is coming to Dallas.
ESPN's Marc Stein reported that the terms of the deal will be for four years and in excess of $80 million. It will be a maximum contract.
Jordan reportedly spent several days deciding between leaving for the Mavericks and continuing on with the Clippers as the team's third piece behind stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.
He was reportedly impressed when Mavericks veteran Dirk Nowitzki interrupted his vacation to fly to Los Angeles for a meeting with Jordan, something that none of Jordan's Clippers teammates managed, the Los AngelesTimes said.
The 26-year-old Jordan averaged 11.5 points and a league-leading 15.0 rebounds per game in 2014–15.
