Report: Metta World Peace, Los Angeles Lakers nearing one-year deal

The Los Angeles Lakers are nearing a one-year contract for free-agent forward Metta World Peace, reports Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

World Peace, 35, played for the Lakers from 2009 to ’13 and has reportedly participated in informal workouts with Lakers players at the team’s facility this week. He is expected to continue working out with the team through the start of training camp later this month, Wojnarowski reported.

Over his four seasons with the Lakers, World Peace appeared in 298 games (270 starts) and averaged 9.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. For his career, World Peace has averaged 13.9 points and 4.7 rebounds over 15 seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, Lakers and New York Knicks.

He last played in 2013–14 with the Knicks, averaging 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds over 29 games. The Knicks waved him after the season and World Peace played last season in China and Italy.
