Kicks and Colors: Air Jordan 14 low released as retro for first time
Kicks and Colors spotlights the variety of colorways—and the stories that go with—that brands’ unveil in key basketball sneakers.
Brand: Jordan
Sneaker: Air Jordan 14 ‘Laney’
Signature athlete: Michael Jordan
Colorway: Varsity Royal
Story: The Air Jordan XIV released in 1999. It hasn’t been seen in its low version since. That all changed on Oct. 3, when the Air Jordan 14 retro low debuted in a varsity royal color with varsity maize, black and white to go with it. The remastered sneaker continues to draw inspiration from the “sleek lines and aerodynamic designs of one of the world’s fastest automobiles.” The distinct look of the 14 gives Jordan a different path than the common releases of the Air Jordan 1, 3, 4, 11 and many more that have proven popular in recent years.
