Warriors head coach Steve Kerr uncertain for opener vs. Pelicans
The Golden State Warriors are uncertain whether head coach Steve Kerr will be present for the team’s season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Oct. 27, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein and Ethan Sherwood Strauss.
“He still doesn't know,” Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said after Monday’s practice. “He’s not going to force a return. There’s no timetable still. He’s been around more lately, which is great. As long as it’s not affecting his recovery, I think it’s healthy for the guys to see him.”
Kerr, who underwent one back surgery in July and another in September to repair a ruptured disk, announced earlier this month he would step away from the team for rehab.
Kerr is entering his second season as an NBA head coach. Behind MVP Stephen Curry, Kerr led the Warriors to their first NBA title in 40 years last season.
