German point guard Dennis Schröder wants to start over Jeff Teague in the Atlanta Hawks lineup or he will explore other teams, he tells the German magazine Bild.

“My goal is the starting spot. If it does not go forward next season, you have to talk to people and look for other opportunities,” Schröder said.

Schröder, 22, is coming off a EuroBasket campaign in which he averaged 18.2 points, 7.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds for 36-minute averages. Schröder started 10 games for the Hawks last season and averaged 10.0 points, 4.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds.

Teague is coming off an All-Star season in which he started 72 of his 73 games on the year. Teague posted a career-high 17.6 points per game to go along with his 7.0 assists and 1.7 steals averaged. Teague also contributed 16.8 points and 6.7 assists per game in the playoffs.

Schröder and Teague remain under contract with the Hawks through the next two seasons Schröder could become a restricted free agent in 2018.
