Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr will miss the team’s season opener and there is no timetable for his return, general manager Bob Myers announced Saturday.

Kerr stepped away from the team earlier this month due to a spinal fluid leak sustained during back surgery in July. Kerr underwent a second surgery in September after the leak was discovered.

Assistant coach Luke Walton has been filling in for Kerr during his absence. Kerr will still attend the Warriors’ opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday to receive his championship ring.

Last season, in his first as a coach, Kerr led Golden State to the best record in the NBA and a Finals win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
