The attorney for J.R. Smith has denied allegations that the Cleveland Cavaliers guard choked a 19-year-old high school student in New York City, according to ESPN.
Smith was was accused of choking the student at 4 a.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 13 in front of a pizza parlor. The student allegedly heckled Smith regarding his trade from the Knicks to the Cavaliers. Cleveland was playing the New York Knicks later that night.
Smith's attorney, Alex Spiro, told ESPN.com that the allegations are “absolutely false” and his client is not expected to be charged.

Smith has played in nine games for the Cavaliers this season and is averaging 8.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
