Clippers’ Blake Griffin (quad) out at least two weeks
Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin sustained a partially torn quad tendon in Friday’s win over the Lakers and will miss at least the next two weeks, the team announced on Saturday.
Griffin sustained the injury in the first quarter on a drive to the basket. Hefinished the game, totaling 13 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in 36 minutes. He underwent an MRI early on Saturday and will be re-evaluated on Jan. 9.
The 26-year-old has averaged 23.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5 assists in 30 games this season for the Clippers. He trails only Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant in the Western Conference frontcourt in first returns of All-Star voting
He missed time last season due to a staph infection in his elbow, but had managed to stay healthy for the team’s first 10 games.
The Clippers (17–13) visit the Jazz on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.
