Suns’ Eric Bledsoe tears meniscus, will have surgery Tuesday

Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe will undergo surgery Tuesday for a torn meniscus in his left knee, the team announced.

Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe tore the meniscus in his left knee Saturday night and will undergo surgery Tuesday, the team announced.

Bledsoe will miss about six weeks, heed coach Jeff Hornacek told reporters Tuesday. Bledsoe had a damaged meniscus removed from his right knee in 2014, and missed more than two months with the injury. 

Bledsoe, who leads the Suns in points, assists and steals, left Saturday’s 111–104 loss to the Sixers with what was initially being called a sprain. He logged eight minutes before exiting in the second quarter, appearing to stumble while closing out on a shooter and falling to the ground. He was carried off the court.

Bledsoe recovered from the 2014 injury to play in 81 games last season. The sixth-year guard was averaging career-bests in points (20.9), assists (6.3) and steals (2.1) entering Saturday.
