Members of the Cleveland Cavaliers were offended by Stephen Curry’s “champagne” comment on Sunday, reports Cleveland.com’s Chris Haynes.

Curry, who returns to Cleveland with his Golden State Warriors team for a Finals rematch against the Cavaliers on Monday, told reporters Sunday that he hopes the visiting locker room at Quicken Loans Arena “still smells a little bit like champagne.”

Sources close to the team told Cleveland.com that various Cavaliers players viewed Curry’s quote as “disrespectful.” Following his comment, the reigning MVP took to Twitter to defend himself tweeting, “#readthewholequote.”

Golden State won 36 of its first 38 games this season, but has lost its last two of three. Cleveland, meanwhile, has won nine of its last 10.

The Warriors and Cavaliers will tip Monday at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
