Doc Rivers says the Clippers will not trade Blake Griffin

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin spoke publicly Tuesday for the first time since breaking his hand.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin addressed the media Tuesday for the first time since breaking his hand in January.

Griffin has not played for the Clippers since Dec. 25. He was initially sidelined with a quad injury, but then sustained multiple fractures in his right hand after punching team equipment manager Matias Testi in late January. Griffin’s initial recovery timetable was listed as 4–6 weeks, but the team is still unsure of when he will return.

Other than a statement, Griffin had not spoken publicly about the matter until Tuesday, when he apologized to fans for his actions after a Clippers practice. Griffin said he was “truly, truly sorry” for the incident.

Clippers coach and general manager Doc Rivers also addressed the media, telling reporters the team will not trade Griffin. The forward has been the subject of numerous rumors with the NBA’s trade deadline approaching Thursday.

The Clippers are fourth in the Western Conference with a record of 35–18. Los Angeles is 18–5 without Griffin since Christmas day.
