The Kings and Dave Joerger are discussing a deal to become the team’s next head coach that would pay him around $4 million per year according to multiplereports.

ESPN’s Marc Stein has the length of Joerger’s deal at four years, while The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports it is for three. Wojnarowski reports that the sides are “progressing rapidly” toward a deal.

Joerger was fired by Memphis on Saturday after going 147–99 in three seasons as head coach, and 9–13 in the postseason. He had been an assistant with the franchise dating back to 2007–08.

Sacramento parted ways with head coach George Karl in April after missing the postseason for a 10th straight season. The Kings took center Willie Cauley-Stein in the first round of last year’s draft and have a lottery pick this year.
