Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt offered support to current coach Tyronn Lue with a phone call during the playoffs, reports Cleveland.com’s Chris Haynes.
Lue, who was previously Blatt’s assistant, succeeded his former boss when he was fired by Cleveland in January. Blatt was relieved of his duties despite having achieved a 30–11 record, which was the best mark in the Eastern Conference at the time.
According to the report, Blatt called Lue during Cleveland’s second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks to offer some kind words.
“He’s just a good person,” Lue told Cleveland.com. “Always encouraging, always supportive. He just said how proud he was of me and what we’re doing, and that means a lot coming from him. His friendship is something I truly appreciate and value.”
