Thunder star Kevin Durant opened up about his foot injury in an article by Lee Jenkins in this week’s Sports Illustrated.
Durant was limited to just 27 games last season by a foot injury that eventually required bone graft surgery. Durant told Jenkins that he was concerned about the long-term effects of the injury.
“I was scared, I was worried,” Durant says. “Will I be back again? Will I be who I am? A year ago people were telling me my career might be over and I listened to that stuff, not because I’m sensitive but because I used it for fuel. I’ve always done that.”
Durant stayed healthy this season, though, and averaged 28.2 points in 72 games. The Thunder take on the Warriors in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals on Tuesday night.
