Craig Sager will receive Jimmy V Award
TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager will receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, ESPN announced Tuesday.
Sager will receive the award at ESPN’s ESPY Award Show this summer. Past winners of the award include Stuart Scott, Eric LeGrand and Leah and Devon Still.
Sager has been battling acute myeloid leukemia for the last two years, undergoing numerous treatments such as chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplants to fight the disease. Sager announced his leukemia had returned in March, but he is still working the NBA playoffs for TNT.
A graduate of Northwestern University, Sager, 64, has worked with Turner Sports for well over 20 years.
