Former Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach and NBA center Sean Rooks died Tuesday. He was 46.
Rooks coached for the 76ers from 2014 through this summer, serving as an assistant for player development. Before joining Philadelphia’s staff, Rooks served as an assistant in the NBA Development League.
Rooks had a long career for numerous teams in the NBA, playing from 1992–2004. Rooks played for the Mavericks, Timberwolves, Hawks, Lakers, Clippers, Hornets and Magic before playing overseas in Spain. A New York native, Rooks went to high school in California before enrolling at Arizona, where he was an honorable mention All-American in his senior season.

Rooks's son Kameron is currently a center at Cal.
