Free agent center Dwight Howard is seeking a contract starting at $24 million per season this off-season, reports Calvin Watkins of ESPN.
Howard will be meeting with teams in Atlanta, his hometown, and is already scheduled to talk with the Hawks and Celtics.
The 30-year-old declined a $23.2 million player option to stay with the Rockets for another season, after Houston expressed interest in him taking a paycut.
• Breaking down the deep big-man market for 2016 NBA free agency
An eight-time All Star, Howard averaged 13.7 points and 11.8 rebounds in 2015–16. His point average was the lowest since he averaged 12.0 as a rookie in 2004–05.
Howard is among the top centers in free agency this off-season, along with Al Horford and Hassan Whiteside.
