The Wizards have acquired point guard Trey Burke from the Jazz for a future second-round draft pick, The Vertical reports.
Burke, 23, was the ninth overall pick in the 2013 draft. The Jazz will receive a 2021 second rounder in return.
Washington adds more depth to its bench after agreeing to sign forward Andrew Nicholson to a four-year, $26 million deal earlier Sunday. Burke averaged 10.6 points and 2.3 assists last season for the Jazz, but had begun to slip in the team’s point guard hierarchy that includes newly-acquired George Hill, veteran Shelvin Mack and youngsters Raul Neto and Dante Exum.
Burke should step in as John Wall’s primary backup with the Wizards.
