AP source: Hornets sign PG Brian Roberts to 1-year deal
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that the Charlotte Hornets have agreed to terms on a one-year contact with point guard Brian Roberts.
Roberts agreed to a deal worth the league veteran minimum of $1.05 million. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the deal cannot be signed until Thursday.
Roberts is expected to be the team's third point guard behind Kemba Walker and Ramon Sessions.
The 30-year-old Roberts played last season with Charlotte before being traded to Memphis as part of a package deal for guard Courtney Lee. Roberts was sent to the Miami Heat and finally traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.
He averaged 4.8 points, 1.3 assists in 30 games last season for the Hornets.
