The Cavaliers and head coach Tyronn Lue have agreed to a five-year, $35 million contract extension, reports The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Lue replaced David Blatt as the Cavaliers’ head coach in the middle of last season. He guided the team to its second straight NBA Finals, and then led Cleveland’s massive upset over the 73-win Golden State Warriors for the title.
Prior to taking over for Blatt, Lue was the highest-paid assistant coach in the league. Previously, Lue also served on the bench of coach Doc Rivers with the Celtics and Clippers.
Lue led the Cavs to a 27–14 record during the regular season, and a 16–5 mark in the playoffs.
