Former All-Star forward Paul Pierce will return to the Clippers next season, reports Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.
Pierce, who will turn 39 before the start of the regular season, is under contract with Los Angeles for two more years. Another source told Turner that Pierce will make a final decision on returning in a few weeks.
Pierce signed a three-year, $10 million deal before last season, but could opt to retire instead of coming back.
The upcoming season would be Pierce’s 19th year in the NBA. The small forward averaged a career-low 6.1 points in 18.1 minutes per game in his first year with the Clippers. Before joining Los Angeles, Pierce played one season each with the Nets and Wizards.
In his career, Pierce has averaged 20 points, 3.6 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. He won Finals MVP with the Celtics in 2008.
