Financial terms of the deal are not yet known.
Lawson, 28, played the last 13 games of last season with the Indiana Pacers after he was bought out in March by the Houston Rockets.
In 66 total games last season, he averaged a career-low 5.7 points to go along with 3.6 assists and 1.8 rebounds a game.
In seven NBA seasons, Lawson, a former first-round pick, has averaged 13.1 points, 6.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds.
