Udonis Haslem fires back at Celtics for beef with Ray Allen: ‘We whooped your ass’
In the ongoing drama between Ray Allen and the 2008 Celtics, Heat veteran Udonis Haslem has his former teammate’s back.
Allen’s former Boston teammates have repeatedly expressed their displeasure with Allen’s decision to sign with the Heat in 2012.
“I mean, Ray left. He left to the enemy,” Rondo told The Undefeated in March. Rondo, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins and Glen Davis also addressed the situation at length on Monday night.
Haslem went on Miami radio station WQAM’s “The Joe Rose Show” on Friday and fired back at the Celtics.
“It’s not like the year before with Ray they beat us,” Haslem said, according to the Sun Sentinel. "Put it this way, it wasn't the similar situation to maybe Kevin Durant going to the team that beat him. It was, you got your ass whooped with Ray, and we got Ray and we whooped your ass again.”
In 2012, the year before Allen moved to Miami, the Celtics lost to the Heat in seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals. The following year, Celtics were bounced from the playoffs in the first round by the Knicks, while the Heat beat the Spurs to win their second straight championship.
