Lakers star LeBron James and his family were among those forced to evacuate their homes after a brush fire broke out on the west side of Los Angeles early Monday morning.

The fire was first reported around 1:30 a.m. near the Getty Center museum, adjacent to the 405 freeway. Evacuations were ordered at 2:45 a.m. for a large swath of the city after the fire jumped across the highway.

James tweeted at 3:53 a.m. local time that he and his family had been ordered to evacuate and were struggling to find a hotel room.

He also expressed sympathy for all those affected by the fires.

As of 3:25 a.m., more than 70 acres had been burned and the fire was still active, according to NBC Los Angeles

James purchased a $23 million home in the Brentwood area of L.A. in 2017, upgrading from a previous home in the neighborhood.
