Nets’ Cam Thomas Becomes Youngest NBA Player With 40 Points in Three Straight Games

The 21-year-old is on an absolute tear.
In this story:

On a night when the basketball world trained its eyes on LeBron James’s quest to break the all-time scoring record, Nets guard Cam Johnson made some scoring history of his own.

The second-year player netted 43 points in a 116–112 loss to the Suns, becoming the youngest player in NBA history with three consecutive 40-point games. The previous mark was held by Allen Iverson, who had five consecutive 40-point outings in April 1997 during his rookie season.

Thomas—who’s 21 years and 117 days old—scored 44 points on Saturday against the Wizards, then followed that up with 47 points in a loss to the Clippers on Monday.

It’s been an explosion of production from the young wing, who prior to this stretch had just one game this season with more than 21 points. In the past three games, he’s shot a combined 42-for-75 (56%) from the field. On Tuesday, he went 18-for-20 on free throw attempts.
