Jaylen Brown Set to Miss Time With Facial Fracture, per Report
The Celtics used an all-hands-on-deck approach during Wednesday’s 106–99 win over the 76ers, with six players scoring in double figures. Now, it appears Boston will have to lean on its depth even more for the near future.
All-Star guard Jaylen Brown left the game with less than two minutes remaining in the second quarter when he took an elbow to the face from teammate Jayson Tatum while trying to corral a rebound of his own missed shot. After the game, The Athletic‘s Shams Charania reported that Brown would miss “some time,” with Brown to receive further evaluation on Thursday.
Early indications have Brown being out through the All-Star break.
Prior to Wednesday’s game, Brown had been averaging 27 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, both career highs. The 26-year-old earned his second career All-Star nod as one of the Eastern Conference’s reserves.
The Celtics have won four of their past five games, overcoming Brown’s departure and a 5-for-15 shooting night from Tatum to take down Philadelphia. Outside of Tatum and Brown, the rest of the team shot 18-for-26 (69.2%) on three-point attempts.
