With Lakers forward LeBron James reportedly feared to have suffered a significant right foot injury during the Lakers’ 111–108 win over the Mavericks on Sunday, Los Angeles is bracing for a period of weeks without its best player.

James, accordingly, appears to be preparing for an extended period away from the floor. On Monday evening, James posted a picture of his injured foot to his Instagram story.

“Fkn sucks!” he wrote, followed by a string of emojis above his double-socked foot.

James is averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game for the 12th-place Lakers this season, during which he became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer on Feb. 7.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Monday evening that James will likely miss an indefinite period of time with the injury, which he played through Sunday as Los Angeles rallied to knock off Dallas.

The 29–32 Lakers currently trail the Pelicans by one game for the Western Conference’s final play-in spot.
