Dillon Brooks ‘Wouldn’t Mind’ Playing LeBron, Lakers in First Round
Grizzlies swingman Dillon Brooks has had an adventurous 2023. The Memphis provocateur has feuded with seemingly every player of note in the NBA this season—among them Warriors forward Draymond Green, Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell and the NBA itself when it hit him with a suspension for technical foul accumulation.
Now, Brooks appears to be taking on his biggest fish yet: Lakers forward LeBron James, the league's all-time leading scorer.
“I wouldn’t mind playing LeBron in a seven-game series,” Brooks mused to reporters Tuesday afternoon.
When asked why that was the case, he elaborated, “The legacy is there. First time back in the playoffs, knock him out right away in the first round. It’ll test us good. They got good pieces, good players, and that’ll be a good first-round matchup for us.”
The winner of Los Angeles's Tuesday night showdown with the Timberwolves will receive the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference, and thus the right to play the Grizzlies—and Brooks—in the first round.
