UConn’s Adama Sanogo to Declare for 2023 NBA Draft, per Reports

UConn star forward Adama Sanogo is declaring for the NBA draft, according to insider Adam Zagoria. The news was confirmed by Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, who added that Sanogo has not completely ruled out returning to college.

The big man just finished his junior season with an NCAA national title and was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player in the process. He averaged 17.2 points and 7.7 rebounds a game while shooting 60.6% from the field this past season. During the NCAA tournament, he averaged 19.7 points and 9.8 rebounds, scoring 17 against San Diego State in the title game.

The 6'9" Husky is a bit undersized compared to most front-court NBA players, but his résumé can’t be denied. Returning for his senior year to go for back-to-back national titles is also an appealing sell if UConn wants to make its case to Sanogo, who doesn’t appear to be 100% committed to going through with the draft.

The 2023 NBA draft is scheduled for June 23 when the next crop of superstars will be selected.
